About me

Coach

I have supported college applicants with their college essays at My College Audition (since 2017), collaborated with scientists and designers on articles about regenerative agriculture at Terra Genesis, and managed content strategy and newsletters at Mental Health Match. Now I work with therapists, small + solo business owners, and other professionals in Portland and beyond via Find the Words.

Writer

My passion is playwriting. I write plays that are about (usually queer) people confronting the unexpected challenges that come with supposedly safe spaces. My most-produced play Deal Me Out is about a board game group kicking out one of its members following the 2016 election. My favorite of my works in progress is the comedy The Usual Unusual about a (fictional) gay bookstore caught up in evolving social politics.

My plays have been commissioned by Wellfleet Harbor Actor Theatre, CompanyOne Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage, Pingree School, Flat Earth Theatre, and others. They have been presented at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, New Mexico State University, Bridge Repertory Theater, Fresh Ink Theatre, and others.

I have also written some new media projects, including an audio play for The Truth podcast, a chatbot for Lyssn, and immersive plays performed in cars and museums (including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.)

Wilson Elementary School talent show, 1995.
I sang “If I Were a Rich Man”.

Teacher

Between 2016 and 2021 I had the privilege to work as an adjunct professor, assistant professor, and teaching artist at Emerson College, Northeastern University, Boston University, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and Merrimack College, in the following subjects:

  • Writing the Web Series

On RateMyProfessor.com I have 5 / 5 stars and a chili pepper, so.
